COVID-19 Advisory

A message from Dr Candice Silverman

We find ourselves in unpredictable times with the emergence of COVID-19 and its global impact on people and the world economies. During these difficult times, we would like to express to you that Dr Candice Silverman is OPEN for business, and is here to support and serve you, your family and the wider community for your health care needs.

Open for Business

We appreciate that everyone to some degree may be feeling pain, strain and anxiety during this period. Due to this uncertainty, our team of specialist doctors and psychologists would like to stay in touch with you and provide support and services where we can, to facilitate timely action for your health care needs.

Our office hours remain in place and we are contactable from 9.00am to 5.00pm, Monday to Friday.

Please contact our medical reception on (07) 5598 0955 to make an appointment.

Services that we provide include:

  • Surgical consulting
  • Bariatric services for new and existing patients
  • Surgical operations*
  • Psychological services
  • Administration Services

To access our services, you will need a valid referral from your GP. Appointments can be scheduled by phone and we will offer flexibility in appointment times as best we can.

* Please note due to the Coronavirus, there are restrictions on some elective surgical procedures being performed.

Service Delivery

As always, we are committed to providing you effective and timely patient-centered care. We now offer the following service delivery to our patients:

Telehealth

To ensure access to our health care services, we will be using Phone and Video-Conferencing (i.e. Telehealth) services for patients with General Surgery presentations and for Mental Health Services, including Bariatric services.

Face to Face Clinics

Currently we are open for Face to Face consultations for those with no history of exposure to COVID-19 and with no current symptoms of COVID-19. However, if you are unwell, have had contact with someone with the COVID-19 virus, been placed in home quarantine/isolation, or have travelled to an overseas destination in the last 21 days, please contact our reception and inform us of your circumstances. We will make alternative arrangements for your appointment to ensure you have access for your health care needs.

GP Referrals

For referring General Practitioners, Specialists and new or existing patients, we look forward to hearing from you!

Locations

Dr Candice Silverman will continue to consult and care for patients in both the public hospital (i.e., The Tweed Hospital), and the private hospital (i.e., John Flynn Private Hospital). Currently our consulting rooms are only available at John Flynn Hospital. Consulting in Byron and Lismore has been postponed temporarily.

Border Pass for NSW Residents

If you live in NSW you will need to obtain a Border Pass to attend a face to face appointment. This can be accessed at www.qld.gov.au. Once you have navigated to the page, please type “border pass” in the “search website” box (top right corner of the page) and click on ‘Apply for an Entry Pass into Queensland’.

Mental Health Help

If you are having difficulties or need mental health support, you can make an appointment with one of our experienced psychologists. Please call our reception staff on (07) 5598 0955 to arrange. There are also several mental health organisations that are free of charge that can assist with immediate mental health concerns, please contact Lifeline on 13 11 14 (lifeline.org.au) or Beyond Blue on 1300 22 4636 (beyondblue.org.au). If you have children that are finding it difficult with the isolation and changes to their routines you can contact the Kids Helpline on 1800 55 1800 (kidshelpline.com.au). For family and domestic violence support, please contact 1800 737 732 to access 24/7 counselling.
